Remnants| Chapter 4
Remnants - Chapter 4 by Jasmine Raisbeck is a mixed media artwork piece of Plaster, polystyrene, acrylic polymer on wood.
Jasmine Raisbeck is a self-taught artist from Perth, Western Australia, whose multi-disciplinary practice includes painting, sculpture, and ceramics - mediums that give her opportunities to connect with her body in a meditative and calming state.
In her current body of abstract work, Jasmine explores the relationship between shapes, pattern and texture to create 3D works, or ‘wall sculptures’. she often employs a minimalist colour palette, perhaps in a bid to find calm amongst the chaos of raising small children
Heavily inspired by mid-century wall murals, Jasmine experiments with a range of media to create works that are architectural, yet lightweight for their scale. She often uses recycled materials - such as polystyrene from packaging waste - to build her sculptures, breathing new life into items that would otherwise be discarded.
Jasmine has won a number of accolades since returning to her art practice three years ago, including being a recent finalist in the National Emerging Art Prize, a finalist in The Gallerist Emerging Artist Prize, winning Third Prize in the Claremont Art Awards,, and being a finalist in the SBS Portrait Prize.
