Jasmine Raisbeck is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist from Perth, Western Australia.
A finalist in the SBS Portrait Prize and Third Prize winner in the Claremont Art Awards, Jasmine produces her diverse range of work in between raising her two young daughters.
Jasmine oscillates between two very different styles – abstract works and more representative oil paintings. In her current body of abstract work, she explores the relationship between shapes, pattern and texture to create 3D works, or ‘wall sculptures’.
Each work in this latest series of geometric wall sculptures - titled ‘Fragments’ - is handmade in Jasmine’s Perth studio. No two pieces are the same. The pattern is random and chaotic, yet the works somehow feel harmonious. She employs a minimalist colour palette, perhaps in a bid to find calm amongst the chaos of raising small children.
The artworks are made using a combination of mixed media, calcite grit compound, synthetic polymer and acrylic on wood board. They are framed in Tasmanian oak.
